POVERTY SIMULATION PROGRAM

 

OVERVIEW

The Poverty Simulation is a role-playing, experiential learning program that puts participants in the shoes of the poverty stricken.

OBJECTIVES

  • Nurture empathy for low-income families in our society
    Students will play the role of an individual who comes from an impoverished family during the simulation

  • Foster a deeper appreciation for one's family
    Together with other make-belief family members, students are required to stay united during traits and tribulations

  • Apprehend the importance of financial literacy and academic pursuits for a brighter future
    Students must face challenges imposed to them during the simulation by attempting to the simulation's school to obtain better employment prospects

  • Cultivate a goal-oriented behavior
    Students must have vision and strategies in order to thrive and break out of the poverty cycle during the game
